This award constitutes the highest honor that the Universidad de Monterrey bestows upon its faculty in recognition of their work.
The Roberto Garza Sada Pro Magistro Award, incepted in 1995 thanks to the initiative and generosity of Doña Márgara Garza Sada de Fernández and her family, constitutes the highest honor that the Universidad de Monterrey bestows upon its faculty in recognition of their work.
Through its name, this award acknowledges the work and transcendence of Don Roberto, a leading figure of Mexico who distinguished himself for his leadership in the business world, his support and promotion of education, culture, and art, and his commitment to service and to the well-being of his community.
Since the inception of the award, UDEM honors each year the faculty members who have distinguished themselves for their excellence and the promotion of values, as well as for the impact their work has had on the university community and on society.
On behalf of Don Roberto Garza Sada, the president of the Universidad de Monterrey and a member of the Fernández family present the award to the winners every year during Teacher’s Day celebration. The president honors the faculty who receive this award as the “heart of the Institution” and the “neurons of the University” since they are the main resource for the creation of knowledge. They instill vitality and dynamism to knowledge when they transmit it to the students.
The Roberto Garza Sada Pro Magistro Award is an invitation to our faculty to aspire to go beyond an excellent practice of teaching in the classrooms and become real “teachers of life”: inspiration to their students and an example of values to their community.
