With the aim of promoting the talent and professional development of UDEM students, Caterpillar and the Universidad de Monterrey have joined efforts to grant academic scholarships to young people with a good academic performance and who are interested in developing their talent at Caterpillar Mexico.

 

Who can apply for this scholarship?

Students with a good academic performance, a sense of social responsibility, and a desire to develop professionally. They must be about to enter the third semester of an undergraduate program at the Universidad de Monterrey.

Participating undergraduate programs:

  • Accounting and Finance
  • International Finance
  • Industrial and System Engineering
  • Mechatronics Engineering
  • Electronic Technologies and Robotics Engineering
  • Sustainable Innovation and Energy Engineering
  • Entrepreneurial Management Engineering

What are the benefits?

  • Initially, Caterpillar will contribute a 25% scholarship on the cost of tuition for the third and fourth semester. If the scholarship recipients are well evaluated, their scholarship may be increased to 50% as from the fifth semester and until the tenth semester.

  • The scholarship does not include living or transport expenses.

  • Scholarship percentage is maintained for tuition fees in bilateral internationalization programs at universities under an agreement.

  • Scholarship recipients may also be evaluated to join a Caterpillar Talent Development program.

  • Students who are scholarship recipients will have an opportunity to live a first-hand learning experience through the Caterpillar Mexico productive and administrative processes, with access to training and development within the environment of the company’s culture and values, under personalized mentoring of Caterpillar Mexico’s internal leaders.

If you are a suitable candidate, how can you apply?

  • Obtain an accumulated grade point average of 85 or higher in the first two semester taken.

  • Demonstrate leadership and social commitment through your participation in projects or initiatives that have a positive impact on the community. This aspect will be evaluated in an interview.

  • Turn in a 1,500-word essay answering the following:

a) Your interest in pursuing the undergraduate degree program and why you chose the Universidad de Monterrey (750 words). 

b) Your aspirations for professional development and how you intend to contribute to the development of Mexico and your community (750 words).

  • Submit two Confidential Reference forms, completed by people who can confirm that you are a reliable and honest student and that you have devoted part of your time to carrying out activities for the benefit of society. They should also attest to the fact that you have the qualities necessary to be a scholarship recipient.*

​​​​​* It is advised that recommenders be professors/teachers, association leaders, superiors from candidates’ job experiences, or that they hold a position of authority to endorse the information provided.

  • Take the psycho pedagogical profile, psychometric, and vocational guidance tests requested.
  • Complete and submit the call for application form and its attached documents:
  1. Submit the authorization-for-use-of-data form

  2. Submit the  authorization-for-use-of-image form.

  3. Print out  checklist form​ (to be filled out by the Center for Information Services and Student Services). 

  • Once you have been notified that you are a scholarship recipient, you must sign the scholarship acceptance letter.

What must you do to maintain your scholarship?

  • Maintain a grade point average of 85 or higher for every semester.
  • Be registered for a full course load in the semester.
  • Pass all courses taken in the semester and be a full-time student.
  • Not to drop any courses during the semester.
  • Complete your undergraduate degree program.
  • Do an internship at Caterpillar (subject to each student’s specific circumstances).
  • Comply with the commitments and agreements established by the scholarship program.
  • Attend meetings with your assigned tutor.
  • Before the end of each semester, you should address a letter to Caterpillar mentioning the relevant learning and challenges of the semester taken.
  • Participate in institutional events promoting social responsibility and the sense of belonging, such as Gente UDEM, Soy UDEM, and Más Manos por tu Comunidad, to name a few.
  • Comply with UDEM’s regulations and statutes (any inappropriate behavior contrary to the values and image of the institution will be grounds to terminate the scholarship).
