Álvaro Fernández Garza is a University of Notre Dame graduate, and he holds master’s degrees from the Tec de Monterrey and Georgetown University. He currently serves as director general of Grupo Alfa. He is also a board member of several companies and has performed a prominent role in intermediate bodies, such as president of CAINTRA (The Chamber of the Transformation Industry) of Nuevo León, and a board member with the CCE (The Business Coordination Council) and with the CONCAMIN (The Confederation of Industrial Chambers).
He has had an extensive career that has been linked to the Universidad de Monterrey since 2008. Before taking over as chairman of the Board of the Universidad de Monterrey, in April 2017, he presided over the Executive Committee for Development and the Consultative Committee of the Roberto Garza Sada Center for Art, Architecture, and Design.
