Announcement | Suspension of activities on March 13

San Pedro Garza García, Thursday, March 12, 2020

Dear members of the UDEM community:

We appreciate the understanding and attention you have given to the recommended health and hygiene measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19, which, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), is already classified as a pandemic.

Since the emergence of COVID-19, at the University of Monterrey, together with a team of specialists from the Vicepresidency for Health Sciences, we have been constantly monitoring the progress of the world, national and local situation, which has resulted in the implementation of preventive actions already announced.

Due to the recent escalation of COVID-19 as a pandemic, and to fulfill our duty to provide a safe and healthy environment for our students and collaborators, the following decisions have been made:

  • Carry out a deep preventive sanitation in all the University facilities, starting tomorrow, Friday, March 13 at 6:00 am.

  • Due to the above, tomorrow Friday, March 13, all classes and academic and training activities are suspended, as well as administrative work at the baccalaureate, professional, postgraduate and continuing education levels.

  • The University facilities will be closed until Monday, March 16, resuming activities on Tuesday, March 17.

  • We ask you to keep an eye on the official communications media of the University of Monterrey and through our site udem.edu.mx/Coronavirus to stay informed about subsequent actions.

The rest of the implemented measures, such as the cancellation of international and national institutional trips, as well as the cancellation of massive events, remain in force.

We request to be kept informed on this subject through the official communication channels of the Organización Mundial de Salud (OMS) [World Health Organization (WHO)], the Secretaría de Salud del Gobierno de la República (Health Secretariat of the Mexican Government) and the la Secretaría de Salud del Gobierno del Estado de Nuevo León (Health Secretariat of the Government of the state of Nuevo León), which are updating your information and issuing reports at the moment.

Sincerely,
Universidad de Monterrey
