Some of the best allies for success in professional women's soccer are resilience and patience, said Natalia Villarreal Pardo, a player for Tigres Femenil, to students at the University of Monterrey, her alma mater.
The sportswoman and graduate of the Psychology program, who has already lifted the Mx Women's League cup, participated in the dialogue “I am a sportswoman, I am a woman player” on April 20, 2023 in the lobby of the Central Library of this university.
Villarreal Pardo highlighted that “I have had many injuries throughout my career, and I have learned that resilience and patience are two of my best allies because they help me to focus on what is in my control and in my hands to return to the courts as soon as possible.
She also indicated that the support of her family was fundamental to achieve her dreams. She recalled the times in her childhood when she played for men's teams, recounted how she managed to combine her sports career with her academic life and celebrated both the establishment and increased popularity of the Liga Mx Femenil: “at the beginning of the league we hardly saw players sponsored by brands, but each time, as the league has grown, they have been getting closer because they have realized that as women in the sport we do have an impact,” she said.
