This course aims to analyze the characteristics of the political system which originated from the Mexican Revolution and the transformations it has undergone, passing from a corporate scheme to a scheme of alleged electoral competition. Additionally, the course will analyze the formation of the political elite, the "Revolutionary Family", the origins of the state party and the construction of authoritarian presidencialism.
This is an intensive course about the history of political parties, the strategies of political formation and the struggle for power. The course aims to use the comparative method to establish the fundamental elements of a political party.
