Are you coming to UDEM on a single-semester exchange?
Upon your arrival if you have a visa
For restricted countries
When you arrive at the first port of entry into Mexico (airport):
- You will receive a Multiple Immigration Form (Forma Migratoria Múltiple – FMM) from your airline or at the first port of entry. You must duly complete this form. Check “Otro” (Other) in the box that asks your purpose of travel and “Visitante actividad no remunerada” (Visitor with non-remunerative activities) in “Estancia Máxima hasta 180 días” (Maximum stay 180 days).
- When you arrive at the first port of entry, show your Multiple Immigration Form (FMM) to the federal agent, along with your “Visitor – Non-remunerative activity” (Visitante actividad no remunerada) visa (which is attached to your passport), and your UDEM acceptance letter. You should tell the agent that you are in Mexico to study.
- Make sure that the Federal Immigration Officer acknowledges “Visitante actividad no remunerada” (Visitor – Non-remunerative activity” in the box that reads “Estancia máxima hasta 180 días” (Maximum stay 180 days) on your Immigration Form. Also, make sure that he/she stamps your student visa.
Important: It is essential that your Immigration Form (FMM) be marked “Visitante actividad no remunerada” (Visitor – Non-remunerative activity) to normalize your stay in Mexico. If “Other” is not checked in your form, you will be required to leave Mexico and ensure that your FMM is correctly filled out when you return to the country.
You should exit the first port of entry with your FMM correctly filled in and a stamp in your passport.

- When you arrive at the first port of entry, show your Multiple Immigration Form (FMM) to the federal agent, along with your UDEM acceptance letter and tell the officer that you are in the country to study.
Some immigration agents will ask you for proof of financial solvency, for this reason we recommend that you bring a bank account statement that shows a balance of at least USD$900 or the equivalent sum in your currency or in Mexican pesos. We also suggest that you have proof of scholarship if you are a scholarship recipient.
You should exit from the first port of entry with your FMM correctly filled in.
