This course aims to study the mechanisms developed to obtain from public institutions the information to which civil society must have access. This is a new issue and and all citizens should be informed of this fundamental right.

Students will learn about the creative possibilities of the use of images, exploring from the formal differences between static images: photographs, paintings, drawings, graphs, and moving images: videos, motion pictures, and electronic images, to their expressive force and communication capabilities.

By the end of this course, students will have become acquainted with works of art and understand their meaning and historical context. They will analyze techniques, methods, forms, and content and will appreciate their cultural value through time in order to apply acquired skills using the specialist language of art discourse. This will be achieved through the analysis of readings and research and the application of previously acquired knowledge in both oral and written exercises and in the preparation of multimedia presentations.

By the end of this course, students will be able to describe monographs on artists, movements, or themes related to the production of art in the northeastern region of Mexico in order to have a more detailed perspective on local art and to establish a critical, informed judgment on it, which will be achieved through the analysis and discussions of readings, research, and field visits.

By the end of this course, students will be able to express knowledge of art in northeastern Mexico and the American states on the Mexico-US border. They will also identify the authors, their works and the historical situation of the environment in which they originated in order to have a vision of the art in terms of time and space and to establish a critical, informed judgment on it. This will be achieved through bibliographical and field research of both the situations and the outstanding human exponents.

By the end of this course, students will be able to explore themes and techniques to build an innovative artistic proposal which is creative and contributes to artistic expression, based on acquired experience and the cultural and social context.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to define non-traditional media, practicing new alternatives for creation in the development of painting.

By the end of this course, students will be able to describe and identify knowledge concerning the history and geography of the evolution of the print and serial artwork, the importance they have had at different periods, their procedures and requirements, their uses and scope and their advantages today for the application of this knowledge to artistic creations.

By the end of this course, students will be able to introduce editing and basic uses of video to productions. They will also apply different approaches to artistic production through audiovisual media in order to contextualize each piece according to the channel used for dissemination. This will be achieved through the analysis and group discussion of the theory reviewed individually, coupled with exhibitions held inside and outside the University.
