UDEM Leading the Future of Mobility and Technology at GTI 2025

- For the third consecutive year, UDEM took part in the event organized by the State Government, which brings together leading institutions in mobility, technology, and innovation.
With the aim of showcasing the programs and projects of the School of Engineering and Technology at the Universidad de Monterrey, professors and students participated in the Global Transportation & Innovation Summit (GTI), organized by the Ministry of Economy of Nuevo León, the Automotive Cluster, and the Nuevo León 4.0 Initiative.
Held at Cintermex on June 4 and 5, the event featured standout projects such as autonomous drones, a robotic exoskeleton, a hydrogen-powered vehicle, and a six-wheeled rover developed for a NASA project — all presented to share ideas, vision, and innovation.
Carlos Atoche Kong, Dean of the School of Engineering and Technology, spoke about the importance of the event for both the state and the institution.
"The most important industry in Monterrey is automotive, and this is the emblematic event at the state level, where these topics are discussed, both transportation, automotive, electromobility, and innovation; we work very closely with the State Government, for example, when foreign companies arrive, sometimes they ask us to explain Monterrey's industrial ecosystem," he explained.
And, on the other hand, we participate in Nuevo León 4.0, which is promoting the incorporation of Industry 4.0 in our companies," he indicated.
He also detailed that UDEM has a presence in the Automotive Cluster, the Software Cluster, and the Home Appliance Cluster, thus forming part of the triple helix concept where companies, government, and universities participate jointly.
"A characteristic of our booth is that we present projects developed by undergraduate students primarily in their theses," he said.
The dean highlighted that what attracts the most attention in the professional field regarding UDEM engineers' profile are soft skills, since, in addition to the technical knowledge they have in Engineering, they also have communication skills.
The executive highlighted that what attracts the most attention in the professional field regarding UDEM engineers' profile are soft skills, since, in addition to the technical knowledge they have in Engineering, they also have communication skills.
"They have communication skills, they're not shy, they have emotional intelligence; also sensitivity, for example, with students who come from institutions that don't have the resources, they give them tips on what they can do with the resources they have, in the end, everything combines," he explained.
He also highlighted internationalization opportunities, as they share experiences they've had in exchanges and stays abroad, such as the one offered during the summer at the University of Michigan.
The Global Transportation & Innovation Summit (GTI) is considered the most important mobility and technological innovation event in Latin America and featured the participation of more than 500 national and international companies, as well as educational institutions.
