Description

You will train as a specialist physician who is competent in the different traumatological and orthopedic problems. You will see patients in critical condition, chronic patients, and patients with degenerative diseases related to Orthopedics. You will apply both your knowledge and work to the medical care of your patients.

Duration: 4 years.

Objective

In the specialty in Orthopedics and Traumatology, you will demonstrate a critical and reflexive attitude in your daily work, always assessing your knowledge and running a scientific professional practice.

 

Student Learning Outcomes

  • You will solve the clinical problems of pathologies pertaining to Epidemiology in different clinical scenarios.
  • You will demonstrate through your actions the principles of ethics and professionalism of your specialty.
  • You will support the tutoring of lower-ranking peers and patients.
  • You will conduct research that will allow you to make decisions regarding the care of your patients.

Graduate profile

You will be a physician who is capable of planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive medical care in this specialty for adults and children. You will be prepared to manage the resources allocated and activities inherent to medical care at the preventive, curative, and rehabilitation levels timely and appropriately. You will also possess skills to plan, design, implement, and assess educational programs aimed for your own development, the development of the health team, and the patients in your care. Furthermore, you will develop research work on the problems of your professional practice, using and disseminating the results such work yields.

In order to pursue the specialty in Orthopedics and Traumatology, you should possess essential knowledge of general medicine and willingness to acquire surgical skills. You must be an honorable person, with a desire for personal and academic advancement and who wants to fully commit to the hospital’s mission and vision. Moreover, you should be aware of the needs of society so that you can solve its problems with a thoroughly humanistic attitude. You should also have the following knowledge:

  • A strong background of basic knowledge that will allow you to acquire knowledge related to the specialty.
  • Knowledge of scientific methodology and the epidemiological method.
  • Fluent and accurate use of oral and written Spanish.
  • Understanding and translating English.

In order to pursue the specialty in Orthopedics and Traumatology, you should possess essential knowledge of general medicine and willingness to acquire surgical skills. You must be an honorable person, with a desire for personal and academic advancement and who wants to fully commit to the hospital’s mission and vision.   • Diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in general Medicine.
  • Basic technical-surgical skills of Medicine.
  • Teamwork.
  • Systematized retrieval of medical information.
  • Basic ability to use the Internet.
  • Basic use of Windows (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Use of statistics packages.

You must be an honorable person, with a desire for personal and academic advancement and who wants to fully commit to the hospital’s mission and vision.
