Description
You will be able to manage high-level laboratories in specialty hospitals, both from the perspective of care provision (diagnosis and treatment), technology, and administration.
You will prepare and train in a general panorama of “Laboratory Medicine” or “Clinical Pathology” as a medical specialty from a historical, philosophical, practical, evolutive, and current perspective so that you can consider the clinical laboratory as your area of work.
You will be able to select the most appropriate laboratory procedures to examine patients, based on their indications and counterindications and taking advantage of your basic training in general medicine, outline the procedures of Clinical Laboratories and Blood Banks through theoretical-practical preparation, interpret the laboratory results, and establish the most appropriate correlation with clinical and morphological data.

- Christus Muguerza Alta Especialidad (High-Specialty Hospital).
Recognition of Official Validity of Studies (RVOE) granted by the Mexican Secretariat of Public Education in accordance with agreement 20110466 dated September 1, 2009.
Objective
We train specialist physicians in Clinical Pathology. You will use the practical administrative procedures of Clinical Analysis Departments and Blood Banks. You will also demonstrate a critical attitude in which the scientific method is applied to the systematic research of the problems affecting your community. Furthermore, you will consider teaching as an integral part of your duties at a level equivalent to that of your care work.
Student Learning Outcomes
- You will solve the clinical problems of pathologies pertaining to Epidemiology in different clinical scenarios.
- You will demonstrate through your actions the principles of ethics and professionalism of your specialty.
- You will support the tutoring of lower-ranking peers and patients.
- You will conduct research that will allow you to make decisions regarding the care of your patients.
Graduate profile
You will be a medical professional who is competent at organizing and coordinating the development and operation of a department in a modern clinical laboratory, carrying out various tasks, such as linking theoretical and practical aspects, interpreting studies and using them rationally, as well as implementing new technologies under strict quality controls, thus promoting research and continuing education.
Admission profile
In order to pursue the Specialty in Clinical Pathology, you should have the following knowledge:
- Scientific foundations of medicine General.
- Organization and coordination of the development and operation of a department in a modern clinical laboratory.
- Identification of the main theoretical and practical aspects of the different departments that make up a modern clinical laboratory.
- Knowledge to implement new analysis techniques in the clinical laboratory.
- Clinical method, epidemiological method, and basic statistics.
- Fluent and accurate use of oral and written Spanish.
- Understanding and translating English.
In order to pursue the Specialty in Clinical Pathology, you should have the following skills:
- Diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in general Medicine.
- Teamwork.
- Systematized retrieval of medical information.
- Basic ability to use the Internet.
- Basic use of Windows (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Use of statistics packages.
