Description

You will link the production of X-rays and the characteristics and functioning of the human body by obtaining a radiological image to establish, together with the patients’ clinical manifestations, a diagnosis that will support therapeutic management.

You will focus on fulfilling the need for diagnostic resources in institutional and/or private medicine, having technological support that allows you to offer the highest standards of care.

Duration: 4 years.

  • IMSS UMAE 25.
  • Christus Muguerza Hospital Alta Especialidad.
  • Christus Muguerza del Parque, Chihuahua.
Recognition of Official Validity of Studies (RVOE) granted by the Mexican Secretariat of Public Education in accordance with agreement 20110470 dated July 2016.

Objective

In the Specialty in Diagnostic and Therapeutic Imaging, you will be trained as a specialist with excellent intellectual, professional, and humanistic capacities to perform and develop your daily professional activities, with the foundations necessary to be an innovative leader in your area; with in-depth theoretical-practical knowledge of diagnostic and therapeutic techniques in the field of imaging.

You will participate actively in the progress and development of your specialty and you will be a pillar of paraclinical support in the diagnosis and management of the pathologies most frequently studied in the specialty in Diagnostic and Therapeutic Imaging.

 

Student learning outcomes

  • You will solve the clinical problems of pathologies typical of Anatomical Pathology in the different clinical scenarios.
  • You will demonstrate and display the ethical and professional principles of your specialty in your daily actions and activities.
  • You will support the tutoring of your lower-rank peers and of your patients.
  • • You will develop research that enables you to make decisions concerning the care of your patients.

Admission profile

You must have a wide and strong foundation of basic knowledge that will enable you to acquire knowledge pertaining to your specialty.

  • Warm and willingness to provide care and attention to patients and their families.
  • Vast knowledge of the scientific methodology, basic Statistics, and the epidemiological method.
  • Scientific foundations of Medicine: Basic Sciences (Physiology, Biochemistry, Anatomy, Neuroanatomy, Pharmacology, Histology, Embryology, etc.), Clinical Sciences (Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Emergencies, Family Medicine, and Public Health), Sociomedical Sciences, and general culture.
  • Diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in general medicine.
  • Responsibility and leadership in the health care team. • An attitude of academic improvement and self-learning.

Graduate profile

Upon completion of your studies, you will have developed the following knowledge:

  • In-depth knowledge of diagnostic and therapeutic imaging and the ability to use medical care methods and techniques which are appropriate to the individual and group circumstances that you face in your professional practice, in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Imaging training and the factors that intervene in it, as well as the risks involved in the use of ionizing radiations.
  • Diagnostic and therapeutic imaging procedures, both invasive and non-invasive, in different areas of Medicine.
  • An ability to select, analyze, and assess medical literature pertaining to this specialty, pertinently applying it to your daily work in order to support, go in depth, and broaden your professional actions.
  • Basic and specialized knowledge of Anatomy and Pathology in terms of imaging in the different areas of Medicine.
  • A capacity to carry out research and research with a sense of ethics and professionalism.
  • The necessary professional knowledge to work in both the public and private sector.

Upon completion of your studies, you will have developed the following skills:

  • Use critical reflection as a habitual element in the practice of your profession, applying it to resources such as prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation within your specialized sphere of action.
  • Apply the skills and abilities acquired to solve imaging diagnosis problems, as well problems involving therapeutic procedures related to this specialty in your daily activities, always monitoring the continuing development of these skills and abilities, as well as the acquisition of new ones, in accordance with the scientific and technological advances, in compliance with the international standards concerning patient safety.

Upon completion of your studies, you will have developed the following attitudes:

  • Promote the integration of medical advances into your professional work in order to offer the highest benefits and lowest risks to your patients.
  • Integrate yourself and integrate your patients and work teams into a continuing education process. Use the scientific research method as a habitual and ongoing method to stay current and up-to-date in the field.
  • Practice your profession with strong professional and humanistic values that enable you to establish effective and professional doctor-patient-family rapport.
  • Join and work with the multidisciplinary team with respect, kindness and warmth and with responsibility toward society and the environment.
  • Be capable of assuming leadership when a situation demands it.
