Objective
To train specialist doctors in Pediatrics with an academic curriculum that includes specialized knowledge in various subspecialties; capable of preventing, diagnosing, and treating pediatric patients, skillfully using innovative technology to practice with the highest standards of patient care and safety, while coordinating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Furthermore, the specialist in Pediatrics will operate within a framework of ethics, humanism, and service orientation, respecting the environment; using scientific research methods as a regular tool in their daily practice and committed to continuous updating in their discipline.

Upon completion of your studies in Pediatrics, you will have developed the following knowledge:

Demonstrate deep knowledge of the pathophysiological mechanisms and natural history of the most prevalent pediatric diseases, methods for primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention.

Have knowledge of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures from clinical history to invasive and non-invasive diagnostic-therapeutic studies, including their indications, utility, risks, and complications.

Perform actions in prevention, self-care, diagnosis, medical-surgical treatment, and rehabilitation using current technological resources available for comprehensive care of pediatric patient issues.

Apply current national and international regulations related to the discipline and quality of medical care with emphasis on patient safety.

Upon completion of your studies in Pediatrics, you will have developed the following skills:

Apply skillfully and proficiently the latest procedures and technical resources in Pediatrics for the prevention, diagnosis, and comprehensive treatment of pediatric diseases.

Develop proficiency in discipline-specific procedures including newborn care and evaluation, advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation, placement of vascular access, endotracheal intubation, among others.

Integrate timely and orderly the different medical issues of the patient to establish appropriate diagnoses, proposing the best therapeutic option.

Treat the sick individual as a biopsychosocial entity in various settings such as delivery room, neonatal units, hospitalization, outpatient consultation, and intensive care.

Provide continuous communication resulting in effective information exchange and proper relationships with patients, their families, and the healthcare team.

Plan a study and treatment program, including urgent cases based on scientific criteria, with principles of service quality, to contribute to sustainable human development with equity and justice.

Perform medical-surgical activities in departments including hospitalization, delivery room, neonatal units, outpatient consultation, intensive care, laboratory, and imaging.
