Description
You will be trained as a specialist physician who will perform a fundamental role in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients with mental disorders.
Duration: 4 years.
Venue:
- Hospital Regional de Psiquiatría No. 22 del IMSS.
Recognition of Official Validity of Studies (RVOE) granted by the Mexican Secretariat of Public Education in accordance with agreement 20110467 dated September 1, 2009.
Objective
In the Psychiatry specialty you will be able to demonstrate the necessary humanitarian and ethical capacity to establish physician-patient, physician-family, physician-peer, and physician-work team relationships with quality and human warmth in the practice of your profession.
Student Learning Outcomes
- You will solve the clinical problems of pathologies pertaining to Epidemiology in different clinical scenarios.
- You will demonstrate through your actions the principles of ethics and professionalism of your specialty.
- You will support the tutoring of lower-ranking peers and patients.
- You will conduct research that will allow you to make decisions regarding the care of your patients.
Graduate profile
You will become a specialist who is competent in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients with mental disorders, with a special emphasis on the human side of Medicine and a major focus on teaching and research.
Admission profile
To pursue the Specialty in Psychiatry you must have a capacity to analyze the patient comprehensively through the skills and abilities you have developed in order ti be able to carry out the paraclinical studies and treatments conducted through the practice of Psychiatry.
You should also have the following knowledge:
- Scientific foundations of general medicine: Basic Sciences (Physiology, Biochemistry, Anatomy, Neuroanatomy, Pharmacology, Histology, Embryology), Clinical Sciences (Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Emergencies, Family Medicine, Public Health), socio medical sciences and general culture.
- Clinical methodology, epidemiological method, and basic statistics.
- Fluent and accurate use of oral and written Spanish.
- Understanding and translating English.
To pursue the Specialty in Psychiatry you must have a capacity to analyze the patient comprehensively through the skills and abilities you have developed in order ti be able to carry out the paraclinical studies and treatments conducted through the practice of Psychiatry.
You should also have the following skills:
- Diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in general Medicine.
- Teamwork.
- Systematized retrieval of medical information.
- Basic ability to use the Internet.
- Basic use of Windows (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Use of statistics packages.
