Objective
To prepare specialists in Pulmonology with an academic background encompassing knowledge of basic sciences, clinical practices, and fundamentals of Internal Medicine; capable of diagnosing and managing acute and chronic respiratory conditions, adeptly employing state-of-the-art technology in Pulmonology techniques to deliver professional practice at the highest standards of patient care and safety; collaborating within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Additionally, the Pulmonology specialist will operate within a framework of ethics, humanism, and service orientation, respecting the environment; utilizing scientific research methods as a regular instrument in daily practice and committed to ongoing professional development in the field.

To have a deep understanding of the scientific foundations of medicine: basic sciences (physiology, biochemistry, anatomy, neuroanatomy, pharmacology, histology, embryology, etc.), clinical sciences (internal medicine, general surgery, pediatrics, gynecology and obstetrics, emergency medicine, family medicine, preventive medicine, public health).

Demonstrate profound knowledge of the anatomical-physiological, biochemical, microbiological, immunological, and pharmacological foundations, as well as the natural history of acute and chronic respiratory diseases, their pathophysiological mechanisms and anatomical-pathological lesions, and the methods for primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention.

Have knowledge of diagnostic-therapeutic procedures from the clinical history to invasive and non-invasive diagnostic-therapeutic studies, as well as their indication, utility, risks, and complications.

Carry out actions for prevention, self-care, and comprehensive medical treatment, including pulmonary rehabilitation, with the support of current technological resources available for the comprehensive care of acute and chronic diseases of the lung, airway, mediastinum, and pleura.

Apply current national and international regulations related to the discipline and quality medical care with an emphasis on patient safety.

Understand the theoretical aspects of the teaching-learning process applied to the training of the patient, accompanying family members, and multidisciplinary health team related to the subjects of their discipline.
