Objective
To train medical specialists in Oncological Surgery with an academic background that includes knowledge of basic sciences, clinical practices, and the fundamentals of general surgery; with the ability to diagnose and treat oncological conditions, skillfully utilizing state-of-the-art technology in oncological surgery procedures. This will enable them to develop a professional practice with the highest standards of patient care and safety, coordinating with the multidisciplinary health team, within a framework of ethics, humanism, and service vocation, while respecting the environment. They will use scientific research as a habitual instrument in their daily practice and will be committed to continuous updating in their discipline.

Demonstrate a deep understanding of the basic sciences applied to Oncological Surgery, with a scientific foundation that allows application in specific clinical situations.

Understand the natural history of oncological diseases, their pathophysiological mechanisms, anatomopathological lesions, as well as the biological and therapeutic medical-surgical behavior of malignant neoplasms, primary and/or metastatic tumors.

Possess knowledge of technical, medical, surgical, and administrative procedures for appropriate medical care under individual and group circumstances encountered in professional practice.

Determine the usefulness of diagnostic aids applied to malignant neoplasms.

Upon completion of this Subspecialty in Oncological Surgery, you will have acquired the following skills:

Identify the signs and symptoms of the process of malignant neoplasms, primary and/or metastatic tumors, to establish appropriate diagnoses.

Perform, interpret, and apply different diagnostic aids, including basic laboratory studies, imaging studies, PET (Positron Emission Tomography), and biopsies.

Interpret the biochemical mechanisms, as well as the pharmacological activity of medications, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, genetic therapy, and hormonal therapy.

Diagnose malignant neoplastic diseases, establish staging, and short-, medium-, and long-term prognosis.

Skillfully perform minor and major surgical methods and techniques of oncological surgery.

Appropriately utilize therapeutic resources for patients with oncological diseases.

Conduct medical-surgical activities in departments including hospitalization, outpatient consultation, operating room, laboratory, and imaging department.
